2018 Metro DC Appraisal Conference

Straddling two states and the nation's capitol, metro DC presents a number of challenges and opportunities for real estate appraisers. You'll find solutions to those challenges and a wide variety doors to those opportunities at AIDC's 2018 Metro DC Appraisal Conference…and 7 hours of continuing education credit!

FullerRenowned area economist, Dr. Stephen S. Fuller, Director, The Stephen S. Fuller Institute and Dwight Schar Faculty Chair and University Professor, The Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University will kick off the conference with an insightful analysis of Greater Washington's regional economy. Fuller's Washington Economic Index has been the area's premier economic benchmark since 1991.

The Appraisal Institute's Director of Government Relations, Bill Garber and Robert L. Parson, Former Senior Appraisal Policy Advisor, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency will follow up with an update on the regulatory trends framing the area's real estate market and appraisal practices. Julie Jones from Fannie Mae and Scott Reuter from Freddie Mac will also be on hand to share their perspectives on the regulatory environment.

After lunch, Ryan McCormick, Senior Vice President & Counsel, Real Estate Roundtable will bring us up-to-date on the impact of the recently passed tax reform. Then Cynthia Adams, Don Boucher, SRA, Woody Fincham, SRA, and Martha Heric, CRE, MAI will look at the impact of sustainability initiatives on valuation for residential and commercial buildings. A panel of developers will then share the latest news on a number of area projects including the Boro at Tysons, the DC Wharf, Prince Georges Town Square and Metro DC Transportation.

We’ll wrap up the day with a thought-provoking look at the future of appraisal with Mark R. Linné, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS. Winner of the Valuation Visionary award by the members of the Collateral Risk Network, Linné is recognized as the nation’s leading valuation futurist, as well as an author or co-author of four books, more than 50 articles, keynote speaker, presenter, expert witness, blogger, inventor with two patents, columnist, instructor, course developer and serial entrepreneur who has actively focused on the future of the profession and the direction that meets the needs of stakeholders.
